Should Tipa Resort Be Your Choice Of Stay At Krabi?

Tucked in one corner of the Ang Mio beach road, nestled amidst lush tropical setting is the Krabi Tipa Resort. This 4 star resort is located on the Ao Nang beach on a small hill between the sea and the beautiful limestone mountains. Tipa resort is a great place to stay in Krabi. It's unique setting gives it the air of exclusivity despite of being located in a busy area. Though not too big, the dome roofed building, the white and blue colors, and the airy lobby ooze colonial charm and give that cozy feeling of relaxation. It is situated 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Krabi town, 31 kilometres (19 miles) from Krabi International Airport and just 5 minutes walk from the famous Ao Nang beach. There are numerous shopping and eating out options even as you step out of the hotel which makes the location quite awesome.

Rooms- some surprises and…….

There are a total of 87 rooms in the resort that includes 21 bungalows, 54 superior rooms and 12 deluxe rooms. Rooms are spacious and are reminiscent of the bygone era where the doors were opened with lock and key. Each room has a TV, small fridge, a sofa, queen size double bed and a balcony that gives a splendid view of the pool. This resort has that rare tradition of giving a surprise to the guests by making cute figures using the towels. Needless to say, my lil one actually thought it was a toy and refused to give it to us until it all got unfolded!
Rooms have only two pin sockets and so it is advisable to carry and 2-3 pin converter. The same is available in the resort upon request. You need to give a refundable deposit of around 20-30 dollars at the reception.

Though the resort claims that it has free wifi, the connection in room is patchy at best. Wi-fi works well in the lobby though. The teak house and bungalows further away from reception do not receive wi-fi signal. If being connected is important to you then suites near the reception would be an ideal choice.

There are four categories of room here- Bungalow, Teak house (Perched on top of hill), Deluxe rooms and grand deluxe rooms. All deluxe rooms are adapted for handicapped guests. The tariff on only-room-basis is from $80 to $100.

The Cravings

As far as breakfast is concerned, there is nothing to write home about. It was sumptuous yet limited in options. Good spread of local fruits like pineapple and watermelons was something really nice. Breakfast is offered at the Green Mango restaurant which is a separate building with a small pool adorned by statues of baby elephants. For lunch and dinner, one has to go to Thip Thai restaurant. The Thai food here is highly recommended and the menu in general is quite good.

The Swimming pool is small compared to other resorts but inviting and is open from 0700 hours to 1900 hours.  Pool bar opens from 1400to 2100 hours. There is a separate pool for children as well.
Other amenities include children play area, reading corner in the lobby and traditional Thai massage with an open air spa facility.

There is a buggy service within the resort that gets you around in case you are too tired to walk.
Note: Resort is gay/lesbian friendly.
